Sea rafting to North Cape
Experience North Cape from the sea
Exploring the North Cape from the seaside gives you a unique opportunity to learn more about this iconic landmark and all its secrets. Did you know that until the mid-1900s, visitors could only reach the North Cape by boat, followed by a very steep path to reach the plateau? And what about the geographical location? Did you know that Nordkapp is not actually located at the northernmost point of Magerøya?
We will give you the answer to all your questions during this exciting and educational trip.
Exciting experiences for young and old
After meeting at our office in Honningsvåg, you will be given flotation suits, life jackets and gloves to make your time on the RIB boat as comfortable as possible. When you board the RIB, equipped with 2×300 hp engines, your guide/captain will give you the necessary instructions to guarantee your safety during this exciting tour.
When we leave Honningsvåg and pass the small fishing village of Nordvågen, the landscape soon begins to change, and we leave civilization behind. We make our first stop in the old municipal centre, called Kjelvik. This small fishing village is no longer inhabited and has a rich history involving a wrecking hurricane and witch burning.

The tour continues along the eastern shores of the island, giving you ample opportunities to spot local wildlife such as white-tailed eagles, reindeer, seals and the occasional puffin. After passing Helnes, one of the northernmost lighthouses in the world, we head straight for the North Cape. You will learn about Knivskjellodden, the northernmost mainland point in Norway, and on the way to Hornvika we will pass under Nordkapp Horn, an old Sami sacrificial place. We walk in to Hornvika, where you can see the traditional trail up to the North Cape, about 300 meters above you.
To end the tour, we take the same road back to Honningsvåg, and keep our eyes open for more of the local wildlife. If we are really lucky, we may also see whales.
The trip is weather dependent and changes can be made at short notice.
